Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Rotational Oncology Pharmacist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This role is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a pharmacist who is looking to develop their hospital pharmacy and oncology knowledge in a wide range of cancer treatments including clinical trials at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre,

Previous experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy and any previous experience in oncology would be desirable. Pre-registration trainees are also welcome to apply for this role.

You  will be expected to work closely with nursing and medical staff and with patients. You will be supported by a team of oncology pharmacists, to deliver pharmaceutical services to patients on day case units and wards.

This role will include Late Duty, Bank holidays and Emergency Duty Commitment.

In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata.

The successful candidate will ensure that prescriptions are screened clinically to promote the rational use of drug therapy and evaluation of the appropriateness of the regimen selected.

You will act as a clinic, ward and day-case unit oncology pharmacist providing pharmaceutical care to cancer patients on a rotational basis 

The post holder will provide highly specialised advice concerning the pharmaceutical care of cancer patients as appropriate, to patients, relatives and other health professional colleagues including senior consultant medical staff.

You will support core services at MVCC pharmacy which include clinical screen, dispense and check prescriptions and requisition  inpatient requests, dose banding systemic anti-cancer therapies, controlled drugs, clinical trial prescription and TTAs.
