Mission

The residency program's mission at Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) is to provide trainees with advanced and concentrated training in the specialty of Internal Medicine in an environment that fosters a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and safety.

About Our Curriculum

The program follows 13 four-week blocks. The core training includes the following specializations over 36 months (3 years): Internal Medicine Ward Based, Pulmonary/ICU, Night Block, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Hematology/Oncology, Palliative Care and Hospice, VA Outpatient Clinic, Nephrology, Neurology, Infectious Disease, Geriatrics, Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology/POCUS, Rheumatology, Continuity Clinic, and Electives (including, but not limited to Allergy/Immunology, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Rheumatology, Pain Management/Addiction, Palliative Medicine and Hospice, Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine, Gastroenterology, Women’s Health, Palliative Medicine and Hospice).

Core Didactics: Lunch Lectures, Tumor Boards, GI Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality, Simulation Training, Journal Club.

Stipends

The stipends for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows:

  • PGY-1: $67,067
  • PGY-2: $69,790
  • PGY-3: $72,829
  • PGY-3 Chief: $74,909
