Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM) is hosting an on‑site Job Fair for the Standardized Patient role.

Date: July 15
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, D.M. Bowman Academic Building, Hagerstown, MD (*Across the parking lot from Meritus Health Hospital)

About the Opportunity – Standardized Patient Role

Standardized Patients support medical education by portraying patient scenarios that help students build clinical, communication, and diagnostic skills.

Position Requirements – Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma required
  • Flexible availability, including short‑notice scheduling for training and student exercises
  • $18 per hour
  • Hours vary based on academic needs
  • Must live within a reasonable driving distance of the Hagerstown, MD campus

  • Memorizing scripts or following specific behavioral cues is challenging

About the Role – Standardized Patient Overview

Standardized Patients portray scripted medical scenarios so students can practice communication, physical exams, and clinical reasoning. You’ll bring cases to life with consistency and authenticity, participate in student‑led encounters, and provide constructive feedback. This is a flexible, as‑needed position with hours that vary by semester.

What You’ll Do – Key Responsibilities

  • Portray patient roles accurately and consistently
  • Participate in medical interviews, physical exams, and osteopathic assessments
  • Provide feedback on communication and professionalism
  • Complete checklists and documentation
  • Incorporate coaching to refine performance
  • Maintain reliable communication and updated availability

What to Expect – Role Expectations

You will train on scripted cases, participate in physical exams, occasionally portray emotionally sensitive scenarios, wear simulated patient attire, and complete evaluations. A confidentiality and consent agreement is required.
